Living in the Netherlands A Song
I love living in this country so much that I’ve decided to write a song about it. Based on the music of the late great James Brown and his song ‘Living in America’. Watch the video below if you’re not familiar with the song.
Bike lanes, from coast to coast, you can cycle anywhere
On the NS train, they have quiet zones, but the locals ignore them and shout loudly anyway
How great does it feel when you can wear anything you feel like and nobody cares?
Living in the Netherlands, white sneakers and Birkenstocks
Living in the Netherlands, ripped jeans and ankle socks (in winter)
Living in the Netherlands, brown shoes and blue suits
Living in the Netherlands, leopard print and offensive boots
Living in the Netherlands, hoogwater pants, in case of floods
Living in the Netherlands, got to have an after-work borrel!
I live in the Netherlands
I live in the Netherlands
Hoogwater pants
You may not be looking for the promised land but you’ve found it anyway
If you don’t agree with this statement you can rot op naar je eigen land any day
Living in the Netherlands, Zwarte Piet, definitely not black!
Living in the Netherlands, the most tolerant nation and that’s a fact
Living in the Netherlands, got to have some gratis goods!
I live in the Netherlands
I live in the Netherlands
You might vote PVV or FvDÂ but you’re not racist you say
The fact that you don’t like Muslims and people of colour is socially acceptable anyway
Living in the Netherlands, got to get me some of those double standards, hit me!
I live in the Netherlands
I live in the Netherlands
To rent apartments in Amsterdam is too expensive and expats are to blame they say
Even though the Dutch own most of the property it’s the expat’s fault because of the rent they pay
Living in the Netherlands, een betalen en twee halen
Living in the Netherlands, got to have a kaassoufle! Good god!
A shout out to all the famous places such as:
Amsterdam, Utrecht city, Harderwijk,
Ijburg, Emmen, Zwolle, Leiden even Friesland!
Living in the Netherlands, got to have some bitterballen!
